The Department of Meteorological Services uses the following electronic equipment to assist in data collection.
Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
Automatic Weather Observation System (AWOS)

The difference being the AWOS is used on aviation stations and the AWS is used on agricultural research stations and other meteorological observing stations. Weather Radars, Satellite Receiving Systems, computer aided forecast (modeling) are some of the forecasting aids used.

For upper air observations, radars, sonding equipment is used.

Most of the stations in Zimbabwe use the mechanical standard instruments, which are on more than 64 stations.
